NEW MYTHOLOGIES:

COLOR AS PARTICIPATORY TOOL

Amazing show. I urge each of you to go see this show at the Americas Society on 68th and Park.

Carlos Cruz Diaz is an Argentine artist now in his 80s or 90s, who
works primarily with color and the sensorial experience. His peices are
about color as a presence, as something that moves and changes and
affects our senses just like any other sensorial experience. He is
trying to free color of always coming second to form.

Its just stunning- first some really amazing conceptual peices that
are made of lines and plexglass and color and seem to shift color as
you watch them… and then this room, divided up into white spaces
filled with color. Color is the total presence, the experience… you
walk through the rooms and you experience all kinds of color. Indeed,
it is particpatory as you become part of the art. And it really messes
with your perception when you walk out.

The point?

Go see this show!

Collaborations in Online International Learning Environments – How to Make them Work!

For
many faculty members, the internationalization of their classes has
been a goal that has been hard to achieve. However, since its inception
in 2006, COIL has been working with faculty to enhance their courses by
embedding online collaborations with international partners into their
classrooms. At this event we will present new developments in the field
of international online education, and will hold a series of focused
workshops and discussions to tackle issues specific to teaching
collaborative international courses.

All sessions will be held on the Purchase College campus.
